Heath Hen double-signed and framed print
A rare double-signed print from Charley’s Ford Times series. This vintage 1957 silk screen print is signed once in the plate and once in the margin. The overall condition is excellent and the professional framing is very attractive. With dual mats and matching metal frame, this print is ready to put on the wall.
“He wore the uniform of the Prairie Chicken, but this was a different drummer. The east coast was his booming ground, and he was so common around Boston in the 1830s that appetites jaded on Heath Hen drumsticks. A century later, cornered on Martha’s Vineyard by proliferating people pressure, his band vanished. The last Heath Hen was the first last of a species to be studied in his natural environment, one of our most famous last birds.” Charley Harper
