We are all in this boat together, so while we are adjusting to this new (hopefully temporary) reality of close-to-home confinement, we put together this little guide explaining what we are doing to pass the time. Hopefully it gives you some ideas for at-home education, fun projects and family time.
Family Time – Puzzling & Games
Evenings represent our down time as a family. Nothing is more fun than working on a puzzle or the challenge of a board game. Charley’s puzzles offer a rich tapestry of detail. It is beyond fun to try an identify each of the animals in his puzzles from the national parks. It’s a great way to learn, develop our birding skills or just enjoy nature from the comfort of home.
Craft Projects
Well, unfortunately, at the moment, the pre-emminent craft project is making masks for personal protection. We aren’t personally making masks, but I can imagine it would make a stylish fashion statement to wear a Harper themed mask. So what are we doing? Family members are serious quilters, so that is one project. For those of us with limited needle-craft skills, making totes from Charley Harper canvas is more up our alley. And, friends are passing the time with needlepoint.
Decorating & Updating
A Flock of Birds, and a large format Mural are great ideas to spice up a family room, a bedroom or study. And, don’t forget the (anti) bird-strike decals. Ours are double sided, so you can enjoy the birds on-the-inside-looking-out while the birds learn to avoid the windows from the outside!.
Correspondence
As we’ve written before one of our favorite things to do with excess downtime is to up our correspondence game. Yes, we do a lot of emailing. But, for the special ones in our lives, a hand-written card really says you care to put thought and effort into the message. Using a beautiful card gives it all the more panache. Some of our friends LOVE to journal – another great reflective pastime.
No matter how you pass the time, we wish you and yours a safe and prosperous Easter, month of April and 2020. And remember the new mantra….. “Keep Calm and Puzzle On!”
